Adrift

ADRIFT

Lambda printing, light box with dynamic LED light and audio, 2’20” sequence, 180 x 130 x 8.5 cm, 2015

The work Adrift, part of the S.O.S. CODE cycle of artworks, in which the artist focuses attention on how thought processes and models of living are being transformed in contemporary society, investigates the confusion of mankind today. Lost in the confused triumph of individualism, we often live trapped, as if in a vortex, in the superficial nature of the everyday, trying to exclude anything different and losing ourselves in the chaos of a dangerous moral drift.  This work reflects this chaos: the figure, with the storm swirling around him, sometimes emerges from the dark and, with a flashing light, transmits the dramatic message in Morse code “Sto andando alla deriva” (“I’m drifting”).
